Husband-pleasing Biscuits

Recipe courtesy of Linda Harmon of Mocksville, NC, a member of EnergyUnited.

2 cups White Lily Self Rising Flour
1/4 cup of stick Crisco shortening
3/4 cup milk or 1 cup buttermilk
1 t. baking powder
1 t. sugar

Heat oven to 450 degrees. Lightly grease a 13" x 9" baking sheet. Cut the shortening into the flour, baking powder and sugar until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk slowly and stir with a fork. On a lightly floured surface knead gently until smooth. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut to size. Bake 10 minutes until the tops are lighty brown. Remove from the oven. Coat the top and bottom with margarine or butter and allow to cool. Freeze in airtight bags until you need them. Allow to thaw out after removing biscuits from the freezer. Finish browning the tops in the oven or toaster oven.

Yield: 12 servings
