Poke bombs

My dad is 83 years old. He says when he was a first grader at Indian Trail School, he and other boys liked to pick up paper “pokes” (discarded lunch bags), fill them with water and throw them at each other. One day at recess they were doing this when a girl called to my dad from a fourth grade window; “Throw it!” She held out both hands as if ready to catch it. My dad threw it to her. She ducked down. It flew across the classroom and hit the chalkboard where the teacher was writing at that very moment. It splattered the chalkboard and the teacher. Boy, was she mad! Here is a picture of 1929 first grade class at Indian Trail School. My dad is on second row, third from left, Bruce Stinson.
