Jesse Helms There is no doubt about it. North Carolina Sen. Jesse Helms, a very powerful leader in Washington, would have made a very good president. Now there are many reasons why, but I will just mention one: that national holiday. I think he was the only one that voted against it. That alone would have saved this country millions and probably billions by now. If we would have had 100 Jesse Helmses in Congress back then, maybe this country’s finances wouldn’t be in such bad shape. election time is come up in November, but the bad thing about it is our choices are pitiful.
