Mummie speaks the truth

My grandmother passed away on June 3, 2003 at the age of 88. Arthritis and pulmonary fibrosis were her biggest enemies. She was a strong family leader, a good advisor and listener, and if she said it, she meant it. She fought hard throughout her sickness not to give up. Some days were good; others were not. Some days, her mind would wander, or at least that's what we thought. She talked of younger days, her marriage, her family, and on one particular day she told a family member, "I've got my cosmetologist license." They figured she was just rambling on.

It wasn't until after her death that they found out differently. While going through some of her personal belongings they found a cosmetologist license dated March 30, 1934. Later that same year she was married and started a family. The license was never renewed. I never knew this about my grandmother, but to me this only proves that when grandma says something, she knows what she's talking about. I'm thankful for the years I had with her because the memories I have of her now are priceless.
