Learning to tough it out I was 16 and my husband was 18 when we married 43 years ago. This would, in my opinion, be very hard for teenagers today. Sometimes I wonder how we made it, and without God’s help I don’t think we would have. We learned very early how to make it on our own. We faced each obstacle together and learned lessons through our journey that are priceless to each of us. I think it means so much to us to know we never received any help from anyone. We were totally on our own. Sometimes it was very hard, but we overcame each trial and never looked back, but continued on with renewed strength from above. We thank God each day for allowing us to take this special journey together, and for being with us and protecting us every step of the way. Doris Shook |
