Lessons You Learned the Hard Way

Learning about love and marriage

Marriage is one of the greatest and most successful bonds that two people can share. I always envisioned in my mind of what marriage was: a couple simply saying the words “I do,” having a family and living happily ever after, the end. Boy, was I wrong!

My husband is a terrific and wonderful guy. I would not have married him if he were not. We are high school sweethearts and have known each other now for 16 years and have been married a year. Although we truly love one another, we wished we would have waited because we were caught in the clouds of love, and after we said, “I do,” we saw the true reality that marriage is not only about love, but it’s hard work. There are times when circumstances try your faith to see if your love will survive.

We have both learned that responsibility, dedication and commitment have to be embedded in your heart to overcome the little storms and adversities of life. I learned that you can’t just jump on a bandwagon, but you must know where and what direction you’re going. True love conquers all.
