Surprise! Last year was the most interesting Christmas I’d ever had. As usual, everyone was going to spend the holidays at my grandparents’ house in Boone. That’s what we thought was going to happen. After we made the drive and pulled into their driveway, I started getting all excited because I knew as soon as I stepped into the house I would be showered with gifts. My sister and I hopped out of the car and ran up to the door. It was locked. We told our mom and luckily, she knew where my grandma hid the other key. After we got inside the house, my mom called my grandma’s cell phone assuming that she was at the grocery store. It wasn’t on, so instead, we decided to wait inside until she got home. About 10 minutes later the house phone rang, and it was our grandparents. They had driven all the way down to Charlotte to surprise us for Christmas. So instead of surprising us all they got was an empty house. They eventually got back up to Boone, and we celebrated our not-so-perfect Christmas at our grandparents’ house.
