Trusting Joy and Skill
I was always an avid reader
and frustrated with the amount of grammar and spelling errors I
would find. So while my kids were in school, I did freelance typing
projects for two major publishing companies in New York and developed
my skills for proofreading all that I typed.
When I moved to North
Carolina I invested in a computer and a book of publishing companies
and their addresses. After sending countless cover letters and
resumes across the United States, editors started responding with
proofreading projects.
The investment amounted to $4,000 for computer,
supplies, time and postage. It sure paid off – and in a hurry,
too! I am now the owner and sole operator of Word Police, LLC,
and working with numerous publishers nationwide.
To think that my
passion for reading has given me the joy of proofreading everything
from current novels to politics to academics is a dream come
true.
