Sing

In March our family visited Miami because my husband had a convention there. My 2-year-old son, Devon, and I decided to visit the famous Miami Zoo (which was wonderful), but traffic was terrible on the way back to pick up my husband. Ordinarily, I try to keep a cheery face on most situations in front of Devon, but the strain of driving unaided in a strange and busy city while working to beat a deadline finally caught up to me, and I slumped against the steering wheel in despair (at a red light, I should note, not while driving). Devon noticed this from the back seat and gravely advised “Sing, Mommy. It’ll make you feel better.” Laughing with tears in my eyes, I replied “YOU make me feel better, Devon.” I thank God for giving me a little voice of reason in the back seat of my car.
