Lessons You Learned From Children

Be a kid again

Christian and Lauren—they are my life, my inspiration, and my absolutely chaotic world. Over the past five years, they have taught me many things. But the absolute best thing I have learned from my kids is how to be a kid all over again.

Crawling on the floor, playing with the train set, going to the pool are all things I had forgotten from my own childhood. Learning to be a kid at heart is the best thing a parent can do for her children.

The saying goes, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” I join my kids at play as often as I can. There is nothing better to relieve stress than to throw my hands up in the air at all my “adult” problems and completely let loose with the kids. There is no better cure for being burned out than to pick up a bucket of sand and start crafting that unbelievably simple sand castle.

The key to staying young I learned from my kids. Be a kid. It’s not difficult. Just forget all your worries for an hour or two, and play with those dirty-faced little people.
