Togetherness and prayers
My husband, John, and I were watching television
when we heard a big boom followed by the loss of power. My first
instinct was to be disappointed. After all, my shows were on, dinner
was planned, and I had chores to do. The majority of people would
agree this is an inconvenience to say the least. We seem to take
for granted the privilege of electricity, forgetting there was a
time when there was none at all.
We decided to make the best of it. I lit several
candles and got out the battery-operated boom box. I put in a tape
of my favorite minister and sat in the candlelight with my favorite
person. We listened, talked, laughed and prayed. It was simply one
of the most fulfilling nights we have spent together in a long time.
It was peaceful, relaxing and inspiring. When I heard the neighbors
generator running, I smiled knowing we didnt need one. I was
pleased that the only entertainment of the night was the presence
of God and my husband.
When the lights came back on, I shut them
off and we continued our pleasant evening with no power. When life
gets too busy, remember to spend those precious moments with the
ones you love. Dont wait for the power to go out.
