How I Got My Name

Jacob the Ninth

At first thought, with my dad being a preacher, you'd suspect that my name was taken from the Jacob in the Bible, but it is really a family named passed down with much honor and pride. For many years, spanning nine generations, there have been nine sequential Jacob Troutmans in my family lineage. Actually, there have been many more, but a Henry interrupted the streak.

Nine generations ago my great(x9)-grandfather, Jacob Troutman, founded the town Troutman, located in the mountains of Iredell County. As you can see, I am proud of my family (even Henry), their accomplishments and my family name. It's not just the first name I'm proud of but the last name as well. I have all hopes of naming my first-born son Jacob, in order to carry out 10 generations of Jacob Troutmans.
