How I Got My Name

How grandfathers are named

Dandee and Ashleigh

My granddaughter Ashleigh has always loved the outdoors, so we got outside as often as possible. She especially loved to walk down where her granddaddy was feeding the cows and goats. It's a rather rugged walk, and she was only about 18 months when we started making this daily trek, so I was usually carrying her. If we didn't see her granddaddy as we walked, I would tell her to call granddaddy. She was just beginning to talk and would call at the top of her lungs, "DAN-DEE!" The name fit him so well, that the rest of the family took to calling him that, too.

Now Ashleigh is 9 years old and granddaddy is still called Dandee, my friend and buddy.
