A 20-year friendship
Rex Hinnant had the key to a house that we
had just bought and when we picked up that key it was the beginning
of a great friendship.
Rex and Rella, his wife, lived next door
their entire married life. They raised three children and tended
the farm surrounding their small house. Rex plowed
many acres behind a mule.
Rex stopped by often, and our friendship
strengthened. My husband and Rex would stand outside and discuss
a tree that needed to be cut,
gardening, or plans for
a barn in our backyard. I would walk outside and say, “When I see you
two together talking, I know something is about to happen.”
I can’t
think of a project done to our house that we didn’t seek
Rex’s help, advice or opinion. If we tried something on our own, we
would always end up calling Rex. With a smile and a hammer he was always
available
and eager.
Their retirement years consist of gardening
and helping neighbors and friends. We are honored and privileged
to have been part of that group
for 20 years.
Even though we have moved, our friendship remains strong and a valuable
part of our
lives. Charma Casey
