All the comforts for
Banjo and Butterbean
It’s Saturday morning, but you can’t cram a tomato and egg biscuit with coffee down quick enough for our two dogs, Banjo and Butterbean. All they can think about is going to their home away from home, even if it is only 80 feet away.
Sure, we wanted it toasty for them with its insulated walls and infrared heat lamps on chilly mornings. We wanted it cool under the shade trees with its built-in window fans on hot summer evenings. We wanted them to scramble and jump around their concrete patios and floating decks. We needed them safe but with lots of freedom in the high and open grid of ostrich panel. We needed them clean in a space spread with rock dust and partially covered by a large shed for rainy days. We wanted it to complement our log home while we sat on benches with them to visit company and play horseshoes in the yard. We wanted their home to be theirs forever with its handicap accessible ramps into its comfortable bedroom space. We are thrilled with the dog lot we built because our boy and girl absolutely love it. We just wish we could convince them to stay in long enough to at least have breakfast with us in the mornings!
By the way, Banjo was featured in Carolina Country’s “My Money Pit” article in July 2004. He was overwhelmed with the kind phone calls from Carolina Country readers wishing him good health and good luck. Banjo sends a bark of “Thanks”!
