Grandfather Mountain

Every summer since I was 8 years old, I’ve gone to Boone to visit my grandparents. While I’m up there, they always make an effort to take me to Grandfather Mountain. I’ve always loved picnics, especially when you’re outside and in the mountains. But Grandfather Mountain by far has the best picnic spots.

There’s one spot in particular that is by these two gigantic boulders and underneath a bunch of trees. This one is my favorite because during the summer when it’s really sunny outside and I’m sitting underneath these trees, there’s a little hole in the middle of them and just the right amount of sunlight comes through. I also really like it because after I’m done eating, I can go climb on top of one of the boulders and just sit back and relax. Not to mention there is a great view of the other mountains and trees when you’re sitting on top of those boulders. Believe me, if you’re looking for the perfect picnic spot, this is the one.
