Dwarf Fruit Trees
Gardeners who want to plant fruit trees but have limited space will do well to select dwarf trees. Such trees have been grafted on dwarfing rootstocks so they produce small trees. However, their fruits are the same size as those produced on normal-size trees. Apples are the most popular of dwarf fruit trees and pears are a close second. New varieties are added every few years. Most apple varieties are not self-fruitful, so you will need to plant at least two varieties for cross pollination. Some nearby neighbors have trees that will solve the problem.
