Planting Deciduous Shrubs
Deciduous shrubs, while bare of leaves in the winter,
can be transplanted bare-root during the dormant season. Set plants approximately
an inch deeper than they were growing in other yard areas or in the nursery
row. If you dig your own, take care not to scrape roots with the spade.
Water newly transplanted shrubs even though the soil may appear moist.
Water helps drive out air pockets, making for a close contact between
roots and soil.
