Organic Alternatives to Chemicals

Control many pesky garden insects with this homemade spray: combine onion skins, four cloves of garlic and two cups of water in a blender. Thoroughly blend. Allow mixture to sit overnight, then strain. Add mixture to sprayer with a half-gallon of water. Control insect pests by spraying upper and underside of leaves.

Another chemical spray alternative to ward off insects, as well as animals, is a combination of the following: one tablespoon cayenne pepper flakes, three garlic cloves, one teaspoon liquid detergent, three teaspoons vegetable oil and two cups water. Blend by shaking well or place in a blender. Pour into sprayer, and apply to upper and underside of leaves.
Re-apply either spray after a rain shower.
