Satsuki Azaleas

Late-flowering Satsuki azaleas, native to Japan, are good supplements and accents to larger and taller azaleas. Dwarf and semi-dwarf forms reach 2-to-3 feet in height. Some grow to 6 feet. They flower after the taller azaleas to extend the azalea bloom season. Tall-growing hybrids sometimes reach 10 feet. Satsuki blooms on one plant can range from white to pink, to pink with white. They are good choices near low windows of a building, as they do not shade the interior. All azaleas are rooted with ease after flowering finishes and new growth hardens. For Satsuki, this usually occurs from late June-August.
