Don’t Overwater Camellias

Overwatering causes more trouble than any other factor in camellia culture. The plants can withstand much dryness. Too little soil moisture becomes apparent before much damage results. With wetness, damage is seldom apparent until roots have rotted, and the damage has been done. Seldom can anything be done to bring the plant back to health. For this reason, the soil mixture should be very porous – more so than practically all other garden plants.
