Watch For Sawfly
Redheaded pine sawfly will attack any
pines, but young pines defoliated by feeding groups of sawfly larvae
or caterpillars are damaged most
often. Adult caterpillars are about an inch long. They are yellowish
green with six rows of black spots and an orange-red head. There may
be more than one generation per year, so it’s important to make
periodic checks. top |
