Bluebird houses

Volunteers for Newell Farms and Wildlife Rehabilitation in Warrenton make quality birdhouses to attract and increase the bluebird population in North Carolina. The birdhouses are constructed of thick yellow heart pine wood, which bluebirds like because the wood and design resemble a hollow tree. The sturdy birdhouses cost $8 (the price is expected to go up summer 2004). They can be purchased at participating State Employees Credit Union branches across North Carolina or at the warehouse in Warrenton where they are made. The organization has made and sold at least 48,000 birdhouses since the project began. Call (252) 257-5199.
