Fayetteville and Wilmington Race Riot of 1898

The Fayetteville and Wilmington Race Riot of 1898 Exhibit will highlight the political and historical factors that led to the riot and will explore Fayetteville's connections to the event including Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry members who went to Wilmington immediately following the riot to keep the peace and Fayetteville-raised author Charles Chesnutt wrote about the riot.
