Find a public garden
Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden, Kernersville

It’s a good time to get inspired by one or two of the many public gardens blooming in North Carolina. North Carolina Cooperative Extension has posted an interactive map showing all kinds of public gardens: historical, Extension demonstration, arboretum, botanical, natural, rose and others. Search for “public gardens” at the site gardening.ces.ncsu.edu. Meantime here is a small sampling of some.

  • Nice, I have visited most of these gardens and they look even better in person, I am thankful to have had the option to do some of the landscaping in Fayetteville

  • I am sure all the gardens mentioned are beautiful. Surprised to see the Biltmore not listed, but perhaps because you have to pay such a high fee to get on the property? Another smaller but beautiful garden is on the John Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. They grow all their food for the students. The flowers in our little town of Murphy are breathtaking as well, but it seems we are 2nd class citizens to the rest of NC……
