Ingredients
1 egg, lightly beaten
⅔ cup milk
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup crushed saltines
¼ cup finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon rubbed sage
¼ teaspoon pepper
1½ pounds ground beef
¼ cup ketchup
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground mustard
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Directions
In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Pat the meat mixture into an ungreased 9-by-5-inch loaf pan. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
Combine the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard and nutmeg; spread over top. Bake 15-20 minutes longer or until meat is not longer pink and a meat thermometer reads 160 degrees. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing.
