Turtle boy

As the only fourth grade teacher in a small school, I had the pleasure of teaching both my sons. The Ninja Turtles were popular the first time around when my youngest son, Chris, was in fourth grade. I discovered that he and some of his pals had concocted a “potion” that they rubbed on their backs each day to try to grow a shell. They didn’t realize that I knew about their potion.

My son happened to get a sore throat about this same time. After seeing the doctor, I left my son with the sitter a couple of extra days, and I returned to teaching. The students all asked where he was. I told them it was just the craziest thing, but he was developing this hard crusty “skin” on his back and the doctors couldn’t figure out what it was. You should have seen the little boys grabbing the bathroom pass to go check out their backs! I laughed to myself all day.
