The lost SAT scores
In high school, we all waited anxiously for our SAT scores. My friend, Michelle, was especially nervous so my buddy, Mitch, told her a fire in Princeton had incinerated all the scores. She ran to me for confirmation, and since I was in on the prank I told her I saw something about it on the news the night before. We found out later that she ran to the assistant headmaster with the news. He immediately called Princeton demanding to know the status of our SAT scores and whether they could be recovered from the fire damage. The people at Princeton obviously thought he was nuts.
Our prank worked out better than we could have ever planned it. And we all did well on our SATs after all.
