Big Red

My husband bought a 1968 Super Sport Chevelle, red with white stripes, straight off the dealership. This was his first new car, and we’ve had it ever since then. We dated in that car, and it took us to many fun places. It came out with a 396 engine and a four-0speed transmission, but he and our son later changed it over to a 454-turbo engine 400 with automatic transmission.

It looks better now than it ever did brand new. Some years ago he had it redone inside and outside, and the new paint job glows. He has taken it to lots of car shows and won several times. We wouldn’t date part with Big Red.

I can’t drive anymore because of multiple sclerosis and being in a wheelchair, but a girl can dream of days gone by! I’ll always see in my mind Big Red coming out my long driveway, to my parents’ house, when we were dating.
