The courting car

My dad was driving a 1929 Ford two-door sedan when he met my mom in March of 1940. They courted in the old ’29 and were married in November of 1940. In 1947 the old ’29 was sold to buy a 1937 Ford truck for the farm.

I always wanted a 1929, but things never worked out until 2002. I saw the ad in Carolina Country. Kenneth Burrell was selling his 1929 Ford. The ’29 had a few problems but the price was okay, and after some work I was cruisin’.

Six months later I met someone special whom I had not seen in years. We began dating in the old ’29. Remembering what fun Mom and Dad said they had courting in the old ’29, I now was having the same great fun.

Had it not been for a ’29 Ford, Dad might not have met Mom. And had it not been for a ’29 Ford, I might not have met my wife.
