Dorothy and Brother Woodsman

I was Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz” for Halloween 2003. I was 4 years old. My dress was pretty with blue and white squares. It had two white buttons and straps on the front. My grandmommy made it for me. I had two hair bows, and my shoes had sparkly red glitter on them.

My brother was the Tin Woodsman. He had a gray suit on and a funnel for his hat. My daddy made his costume. He spray painted it silver and put a heart on it. The reason he put a heart on it is because in the movie the Tin Woodsman needed one. He also had cardboard and tape on his legs. Guess what? He could not walk. Wouldn’t it be cool if I could put oil in my brother just like Dorothy did in the movie?

We went trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. It looked like we saw the Wicked Witch of the East and the Wicked Witch of the West. They saw us, too. Some neighbors had a dog that looked like Toto. We got lots of candy. We felt like we were off to see the Wizard!
