“Dolly Would” - Carolina Country

“Dolly Would”

By The Dryes

This sassy new tune is both an ode to country music superstar Dolly Parton and a delightfully wry anthem about being bold. Katelyn and Derek Drye, big fans of Dolly, first thought they’d name it “Dollywood” but the song morphed creatively into a song about trailblazing and fighting for your dreams.

Other great songs they’ve dropped include “Whites Creek” (about finding peace away from the hustle and bustle of life), the slinky “Amen,” the reggae-inspired “Marley,” “Yes,” about joyful marital compromise, and “War,” about love (and with an emotional backstory).

Katelyn and Derek hail from Winston-Salem and Thomasville, respectively. From an early age, Katelyn dreamed of a musical career. “I grew up on country music and Jesus,” she says. “I never had an alternative plan.” Derek says he found his voice when he first picked up the guitar. “It changed my life immediately.”

The couple recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary and are now live in Whites Creek, a community just north of Nashville.
