Strawberries: Three Facts

Strawberries: Three Facts
  1. In medieval times, people served strawberries on important occasions, to bring about prosperity and peace.
  2. Strawberries are the only fruit to wear their seeds on the outside. BTW: They aren’t technically berries, because berries have their seeds inside. In fact, biologists consider each seed on a strawberry to be its own separate fruit. (So meta!)
  3. American Indians mixed strawberries with cornmeal to make strawberry bread, which is believed to be a precursor to strawberry shortcake.

  • I love the magazine you put out. My husband and I had the April issue at the grocery store picking up ingredients for the Strawberry Salsa and Orzo chicken. We left the magazine in the grocery store :( and looked up the Chicken Orzo online and made it..IT WAS SO GOOD) but we can not find the Strawberry salsa recipe online. I called my neighbors and they don't have the issue any more. I keep my magazines it has great info and the best recipies. Do you have another copy of the April issue? If not can you send me the recipe for the strawberry salsa? Hope you can help. Again...awesome magazine. Thank you, Deborah Swann Horton, Charles Raynor
