Dressed-up bunnies - Carolina Country

Dressed-up bunnies

During the 1920s and 1930s, our mothers would make all of our dresses. The dry goods stores were many miles away. On Easter mornings when I would come down the stairs, in the parlor lined up on the sofa were all of my Easter bunnies dressed in colorful clothes. The front of the girls’ lace dresses were smocked and the boys’ coats and shirts closed with bright buttons.  After the holiday, the bunnies were placed back in a trunk in the garret until the next year’s Easter.
