Strawberries: Three Facts
- In medieval times, people served strawberries on important occasions, to bring about prosperity and peace.
- Strawberries are the only fruit to wear their seeds on the outside. BTW: They aren’t technically berries, because berries have their seeds inside. In fact, biologists consider each seed on a strawberry to be its own separate fruit. (So meta!)
- American Indians mixed strawberries with cornmeal to make strawberry bread, which is believed to be a precursor to strawberry shortcake.
