Sewing the Fields

This is one of 17 models I have made from old treadle machines and one early electric machine. This one in particular is made from a White brand sewing machine. It has a working steering mechanism and lift (not shown).

I have replicas of Allis-Chalmers, Ford, John Deere, Kubota, Massey Ferguson, Minneapolis-Moline and Oliver tractors.

Most of the parts used are internal parts from the sewing machines. There are many different names of machines and each one is a little different, making my imagination run wild as I disassemble each one. I use 6” to 8” lawn mower wheels on the rear and mostly garage door pulleys for front wheels. The Farmall Cub shown has luggage cart wheels on front. It takes from 40 to 80 hours to construct one, depending on how wild my imagination begins to run.

Most people ask “are they for sale?” Yes – but they ain’t cheap!
