Ron Hunter’s soulful voice and masterful guitar playing are showcased in this self-composed song from Hunter’s album, “The Great Unknown.” The Winston-Salem native created and wrote the lyrics for all but one of its 12 tracks, and the result is a unique mix of blues tunes that are both raw and uplifting. Ron is accompanied by bass player Bill Rich, keyboard player Dave Keyes, drummer Ardie Dean, slide guitarist Robby Carr and percussionist Thi Sharpe.

Ron learned how to play guitar from his sharecropper dad, and developed his style while raising a family and working as a maintenance man. Plucking away on breaks in his closet-sized office paid off. He’s played at New York City’s Lincoln Center and performs regularly throughout North Carolina and at festivals in the United States.

“First, I tried to be Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Jim Hendrix, Muddy Waters,” he recalls. “But I found that if I was just me, well, no one could be me.”
