This Month’s Issue: The Mountains Are Calling
The first time I lived in North Carolina was just after college, when I stayed with a friend in Asheville for a fall season. I worked at Mast General Store, mainly folding Carhartts (never lucky enough to work the candy section), and explored the surrounding mountains, valleys and towns. I was also amazed at just how many tourists flock to the region that time of year — busloads would pull up in front of the store on their way to experience peak leaf season. Western North Carolina is drawing even more tourists these days, and we’re sharing a little bit about what makes it so special in this issue. Also, learn how electric co-ops are using renewable energy.
