YOU can help hold down power costs for all Blue Ridge Energy members by signing up to receive Beat The Peak alerts!
How does Beat The Peak help with power costs?
Champions for this voluntary program simply delay or reduce their use of electricity for a few hours during peak periods.
By shaving these peaks in electricity use, power costs are stabilized. That’s what helps keep power costs as low as possible. It can even delay the need and cost for new power plants!
What do I need to do?
Go to BlueRidgeEnergy.com/BTP and sign up to receive peak alerts. You can also download our mobile app.
When we expect a peak, we’ll send volunteers a text, email, or use a mobile app notification. When you receive an alert, you’ll reduce your use of electricity in whatever way works for you. That can be as simple as turning off unnecessary lights and waiting to run the dishwasher or, if you’re willing, bumping up the thermostat a few degrees.
During summer, the alerts will remind you to shift or delay your use between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on only the hottest days.
