Halifax EMC held its 83rd Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 18, at Inborden Elementary/Enfield Middle School.

There were 214 members registered with an estimated 300 guests in attendance.

Attendees enjoyed music provided by The Mills Family of Hollister as well as informative exhibits by ElecTel, Carolina Country, Halifax County EMS, The John 3:16 Center, and the LKG 911 Task Force. HEMC demonstrated an electric safety village as well as an electrical trailer. Attendees were also treated to muffins and coffee provided by the Volunteers in Action, ice cream from Klassic Sweet Treats, as well as a barbecue sandwich lunch plate.

Board President Basil Williams presided over the business meeting and Chief Executive Officer Tucker Lemley presented the 2023 Annual Report. HEMC Attorney Larry Armstrong informed members that 1,297 mail-in ballots were validated by the Credentials & Election Committee and the following directors were elected: Frederick Dunn, District 1; Basil Williams, District 2; and Sanders Cox, District 8 At-Large.

Several door prizes were awarded following the business meeting. Congratulations to Tyrone V. Hedgepeth of Enfield who won the grand prize—an Insiginia 50" Fire television!
