Pee Dee Electric is excited to announce that Aaron Boone of Wadesboro has been selected as the 2022 Rural Electric Youth Tourist.
Aaron is the son of Chris and Kristen Boone and currently attends Anson County Early College High School, where he’s involved in Beta Club, football, indoor track, and much more.
Aaron will be joining youth tourists delegated from electric cooperatives across the state as they tour our nation’s capital. “We are excited to have Aaron represent Pee Dee Electric in Washington, D.C., this year,” said Megan Shaw, Pee Dee Electric’s communications specialist.
During the trip, students will network with peers from across the country, meet members of congress, visit national museums and historical landmarks. The Youth Tour is a leadership experience that brings the history of electric cooperatives, the cooperative business model, and the U.S. government into one in a once-in-a-lifetime leadership opportunity. This will be the first Youth Tour trip to Washington, D.C., since 2019, as COVID precautions prevented travel last year.
