Board President, Richard Johnson Honored for 50 Years of Service - Carolina Country
January 2023

Richard Johnson, board president of Pee Dee Electric, was recently recognized for his commendable 50 years of service to the cooperative.

Johnson has served on Pee Dee Electric’s Board of Directors representing District 4 since 1972, and has served as board president for the last 34 years.

“Serving on Pee Dee Electric’s Board of Directors has been a rewarding experience,” stated Johnson. “Over the years, I have been able to attend different conferences and events, increasing my knowledge, experience, and leadership abilities, especially through classes offered by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).” These classes provide hands-on experience with instructors and the opportunity to network and exchange ideas and thoughts with colleagues.

“Serving in my community is very important to me,” he added. Johnson also serves as a representative on the Statewide North Carolina Association of Electric Cooperative (NCAEC) Board and the executive committee of NCAEC. He is an active Rotary member and the coordinator for the ramp building group, Anson County Baptist Men.

Pee Dee Electric is appreciative of Richard Johnson’s many years of service to Pee Dee Electric and his dedication to the community. Congratulations!
