Every year Union Power Cooperative holds its annual meeting to conduct the business of the Cooperative and to show our appreciation to you, the member. This year, there were over 1,000 attendees at our 78th Annual Member Meeting held on October 14th, at Lee Park Baptist Church in Monroe.
The day began with registration and a breakfast buffet and concluded with the formal business meeting. Prior to the business meeting attendees of all ages participated in wellness, educational, and entertaining activities. Live music was provided by local recording artists, Lauren & Lane.
Community Health Services of Union County provided health screening services while a photo booth, safety demonstration and games kept children busy at the Kids Festival. Close to 300 energy saving kits were distributed at the Energy Fair with employees providing valuable information to members on items that can make a home more energy efficient.
During the business meeting, a video was shown highlighting ways the Co-op is working to power your home, your community and empower you. Director elections were held and members re-elected Dent H. Turner, Jr., Tom J. Caudle, and Sherise Jones to serve 3-year terms. Following the meeting, a door prize drawing was held with nearly $3,000 in cash and prizes awarded.
