Kaela Tyson, a fifth grader at Unionville Elementary School in Union County, and Seth Winchester, a seventh grader at Mount Pleasant Middle School in Cabarrus County, took a shot at expanding their knowledge of basketball and fine-tuning their leadership and teamwork skills on the courts of two of North Carolina’s top universities this summer!

Kaela attended the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp under the direction of Coach Wes Moore from June 9-12 at NC State University in Raleigh. Seth attended the Roy Williams Carolina Basketball Camp under the direction of Coach Roy Williams from June 22-26 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“This was a great, hands-on learning experience for the students. They gained real-world experience of living on a college campus and received group and individual instruction from some of the top Division 1 coaches. The skills they learned will not only develop them as players, but will also prove to be invaluable to their futures,” Communications Specialist Porsche Nowlin said.
