Member Jean Dann noticed that her electric bills were growing increasingly higher than they should be, finally topping $400. Thinking it might be the HVAC system, she called the heating and air company with which she is under contract.

“They had been trying to extend the life of the system, but finally told me it was time for a new one. This was in December, and who wants to be told they need to spend that kind of money, especially at that time of year! I was considering different ways to pay for it, and was reminded by my heating and air guy that Brunswick Electric has a Weatherization Loan program.”

The Weatherization Loan program, brought to you by BEMC, provides 5% loans for energy efficiency projects, up to $8,000 for residential projects and up to $10,000 for commercial projects. Terms can be as long as 60 months, and payments are included with your monthly electric bill.

Eligible projects include, but are not limited to, new heat pumps with a minimum 15 SEER rating, new electric or solar water heaters, ENERGY STAR^© replacement windows and doors, insulation of all types, and duct repair or replacement.
