National Lineman Appreciation Month - Carolina Country

We call them heroes
April 2020

There are many reasons we call them our heroes. Dedication to the membership and their communities runs deep in their veins as they work in sweltering heat and freezing rain. When hurricanes hit, they move as fast as they can toward conditions that others run from, and work tirelessly in miserable conditions until restoration is complete, because nothing is more important to them at that moment than getting power back on as fast and as safely as possible. They sacrifice nights, weekends and holidays, away from their families, making sure our system is as reliable as possible. They dedicate their minds and bodies to serving their communities, their cooperative, and each other.

“They say quit is not in their vocabulary, and that being a lineman is a way of life.”

It takes a unique combination of discipline, intelligence, compassion, strength and stamina to be a lineman. They say it’s rewarding, meaningful work, and that not too many people want to do it, and that you have to be cut from the cloth. They say quit is not in their vocabulary, and that being a lineman is a way of life. And for that, we are grateful. Every month should be lineman appreciation month.
