We’ve pulled together a list of 101 unique festivals North Carolina has to offer — many of which are sponsored by electric cooperatives — and grouped them by month. Check this list year-round to ensure that, whatever your mood, you’ll be able to join in the fun.

  • The Festival of the Frescoes will be held on October 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Glendale Springs, NC. An "old fashioned country fair," the festival celebrates the fresco of The Last Supper which is found in Holy Trinity Church by famous artist Ben Long, and also three frescoes in Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in West Jefferson. The festival recognizes more than a century of service to our community by Holy Trinity Church and its sister church,
You'll find baked goods, works by artists and crafters, music, booths for regional crafts and local charities, children's activities, a silent auction, and not one, but TWO raffles - one for a handcrafted jewelry box and another for a framed, numbered print by well-known artist, Stephen Shoemaker.
Lunch is available - barbecued chickens and hot dogs and all the trimmings.

  • This coming weekend, Oct. 13, 14 and 15 is New Bern's Mumfest. I understand it is the largest of its kind in NC. Several streets are closed and there are booths full of all sorts of crafts, food of every description, rides and face painting for the kids and much much more. It is well worth a visit!

Tons of live music throughout the three days on the main stage as well as side stages; an amusement mid-way with rides and games; lots of potato-oriented activities including the famous National Potato Peeling Contest. www.ncpotatofestival.com; May 18-20, 2018
