When it comes to simply hanging out alone or with a friend, browsing through shelves of books, sitting in a corner to read and reflect, or enjoying quiet conversation over a hot or cold drink and a locally made pastry, it’s hard to beat one of our state’s treasured independent bookstores.

Pages Books & Coffee in Mount Airy is open seven days a week and stocks a wide range of books, from new releases to well-loved classics along with teen, juvenile and a children’s section. Meet and support local authors, give your child a chance to explore ceramic painting the first Sunday of the month, or participate in story time the last Saturday of the month. The pet-friendly store also stocks many gift items.

“The ‘Cheers’ of Mount Airy, where everyone knows your name—no one is a stranger. Great coffee and pastries, with a good selection of books and folks to TALK to about books … a real game-changer for this community.”

—Peggy, Mount Airy, a member of Blue Ridge Energy
