The Board of Directors of Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation has selected Joshua L. Winslow as BEMC’s next General Manager and Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds retired executive Don Hughes, who had been with the cooperative since 1969 and had served as General Manager and CEO since 2014. Winslow officially assumed his position February 1, 2019.

“Josh is an excellent fit for BEMC because he has a proven track record of leadership and personnel development,” said Hughes. “Not only is he storm-tested, but he consistently demonstrates concern for the community’s needs while providing strength of leadership and support for the daily operation of the co-op.”

Hired in 2004 as an electrical engineer, Winslow has extensive experience in many aspects of BEMC’s operations; and serving most recently as Chief Operating Officer. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from NC State University, and is a licensed professional engineer.

“Brunswick Electric is truly a leader among the nation’s electric cooperatives and I am very honored and humbled to have been selected as the cooperative’s new CEO,” said Winslow. “My professional career has been focused on implementing effective means to help improve the efficiency of our infrastructure, while planning for the growth to safely meet the needs and expectations of our membership.

Winslow and his wife, LeeAnna, have been married for 16 years and have three children: Raleigh, 8; Reagan, 4; and Roslyn, 2.
