Soak up a season of holiday cheer in Banner Elk the first weekend in December. A Small Town Christmas is a three-day celebration with a sleigh full of traditional holiday activities.
Friday evening kicks off with the lighting of the town tree and a ticketed performance of Ensemble Stage’s annual holiday show, “A Banner Elk Christmas.” Saturday brings a full day of festivities: breakfast with Santa, a 5K run, ticketed tours at Apple Hill Alpaca Farm, an afternoon holiday market, ornament making and cookie decorating, a community carol sing-along, an evening Christmas parade and train rides through the lights on the town green. Sunday continues with more Apple Hill Alpaca Farm tours, an encore Ensemble performance and choose-and-cut Christmas trees at area tree farms.
Throughout the weekend, warm up with hot chocolate, Christmas cookies and hot toddies by the fire pits, or stop by My Best Friend’s Barkery for treats (for people and pups).
